A single joint of cannabis raises the risk of schizophrenia by more than 40 per cent, a disturbing study warns.
The Government-commissioned report has also found that taking the drug regularly more than doubles the risk of serious mental illness.
Post the real percentages, or you're only feeding the hysteria:
ReplyDeleteChance of an otherwise mentally healthy person becoming schizophrenic from smoking 1 joint: 1.41%.
Chance if they have a sibling with schizophrenia: 13%
Chance if they have a parent with schizophrenia: 18%
It's says 41% MORE of a chance than usual, which doesn't mean a 41% chance overall.
Here's my follow-up post with the numbers and how I got them. Conveniently, the government-funded study doesn't post these numbers. It's a scare tactic. It's bullshit.
Yes, it's a scare tactic. The whole point is to keep hysteria high. If it's not terrorist that are gonna get ya, then smoking one joint will.
ReplyDeleteIt may be true that smoking a single joint raises the risk 40%, but as you pointed out, the actual numbers are very low. It is important to read through the hysteria and call bullshit when you see it. I wish more people paid closer attention to what is going on.
