ABC Told Rosie Not To Talk About Dead U.S. Troops

Can't have dead soldiers mentioned on television! There will be none of that people! Nothing going on here! Move along.

Rosie O'Donnell was ordered by ABC not to talk about casualty figures of U.S. troops in Iraq on The View and was continually censored and blocked in her attempts to feature prominent members of the 9/11 Truth Movement as guests on the show.

I see nothing wrong with Rosie choosing to leave The View (or even being fired from the show), and I don't buy the whole "censorship" argument being tossed about. From my understanding, this particular show is geared more towards entertainment than actual news, more fluff and less social commentary. If Rosie wants to take her career in a more socially relevant direction, I see nothing wrong with her leaving a show that doesn't offer her the opportunity to do so.

At the same time, I see no problem with a show that is not geared to do so in firing her for having incompatible goals. I don't think that's remotely close to censorship. If I'm asked to give a presentation for my job and instead I go off ranting about 9/11, I expect to get reprimanded. If I do so continuously, I expect to get fired. Not because I'm being censored, but because I'm not doing what I was hired to do.

I like the fact that Rosie is planning a new show. Let her voice her opinion in a proper venue, then let's judge what she has to say.

Hire them all and let the market sort them out.
