A poll of 200 GPs by consumer group Which? found they received four visits per month on average from drug reps.
They also received five promotional mailings about new drugs a week, and inducements to attend conferences.
...
Neil Fowler, of Which?, said: "When you get a prescription from your GP, you want to know you've been prescribed the right drugs, not drugs produced by the company that spent a lot of
money on promotion and inducements.
Seems reasonable.

This is my problem with going to the doctor nowadays...I went through some horrible stuff for 2 summers in a row because, rather than treat my particular problem, the doctor I went to would be like, "Oh, we have some samples of this stuff..." and then send me on my way. When the pills didn't work, it wasn't the fact that they were given to me without regard to whether they were even for the condition I had...it was my fault for not believing they would work. How does that make sense?
Nurses at the home The Boyfriend's sister works at will get bonuses based on how many drugs they prescribe to patients. It's disgusting.
