U.S. intelligence agencies warned the Bush administration in early 2003 that invading Iraq could create internal conflict that would give Iran and al Qaeda new opportunities to expand their influence, according to an upcoming Senate report.
Officials familiar with the Senate Intelligence Committee investigation also say analysts warned against U.S. domination in the region, which could increase extremist recruiting.

You just know that all kinds of intel has been around for years regarding Iraq and the problems toppling Sadaam would pose. Bush the Elder knew it in the early 90's and wisely avoided making those mistakes.
Of course the intel has been around for years. What? Do they think we're stupid? Oh wait, yes, yes they do.
But their arrogance (and some would say their criminal behavior) got us into this mess. "To hell with your intelligence, we'll make our own so it fits our agenda!"
