Bush braces Americans for prolonged struggle in Iraq

President Bush yesterday used a July Fourth speech to airmen in West Virginia to brace Americans for another year of war in Iraq, saying the U.S. struggled for six years in the Revolutionary War to win independence from Britain.

And that war has what exactly to do with this one?

Throw up here.

*rolls eyes* God, I hate it when people who've proven themselves to be opposed to everything that a certain situation stands for use it to sway people who are ignorant of that situation - I really wish people would read up on what July 4th IS to us. I don't think it's unrealistic for people in the military to know what they're supposed to be fighting to uphold, do you? Heh.

Iraq did not, and has never, held anything over us. We've never been subservient to them. It's absolutely ridiculous to compare the two conflicts - in this one, WE could be compared to England ca. 1776. Ridiculous.
